This year was Isaac's first Christmas in Minnesconsin. We had so much fun with Gramma, Grampa and KACO (Kirk, Angela, Carter, Olivia).
When we arrived, there was a dusting of snow - just enough for some sledding! We headed out early on Christmas Eve morning to take advantage of what snow there was before the sun melted it all away. :( We started out on a "bunny slope" which was so very exciting for the little man.
And then headed for the bigger hill which required a parental assist to avoid crashing.
Isaac enjoyed a leisurely Christmas morning - reading the comics and having a light breakfast before KACO arrived for the big feast and present opening.
The cousins on Christmas morning: before the presents were opened.
The Hauge family
The next day we bundled up for a cold and windy hike at Willow Falls State Park.
Unfortunately, the trail down to the falls was too treacherous so instead we drove down to the lake to play on the ice. Only one slip by Isaac - he thought the ice was pretty neat!
We met an ice fisherman who showed Isaac his gear and fresh catch.
All bundled up but still having fun!
That evening, Isaac decorated sugar cookies - an art form that requires some serious concentration
They were delicious!
and the sugar provided ample energy for some couch jumping!
Run! Your shadow is chasing you!
Our last full day in Minnesota was spent at Como Zoo. I really wanted to see the newly remodeled polar bear exhibit. This guy weighs 1000 lbs!!
Isaac loves his new monkey hat from his great Aunt Jo. (I think it's pretty cute too).
As usual, it was sad to say goodbye. Thanks for everything Mom & Dad! Isaac sure misses his Gramma & Grampa. We can't wait for our next Hauge Christmas in 2013!
Merry Christmas!
